About The Dies Have It
The Dies Have It is an independent buying-guide site for craft cutting machines. We help you compare machines and pick one with less guesswork.
We write for hobby crafters, teachers, quilters and gift buyers who want a machine for paper, vinyl, fabric or thin sheets. You don't need to know the jargon, because we explain terms like die, mat, blade and cutting width in plain words.
What we cover
Our guides cover three kinds of machines. Hand-crank die cutters like the Sizzix Big Shot and Spellbinders Platinum press a steel die through two plates.
Electronic cutters from Cricut, Silhouette and Brother follow a design file with a small blade.
Fabric cutters like the AccuQuilt GO! line use dies made for quilting shapes.
We also cover the mats, blades and materials that go with them, and what each machine can and can't cut. Many guides compare two models side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.
What we do
We read the product details, specs and maker information for every machine we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after using one.
Then we turn it all into plain guides and clear picks. You can read more on our How we research page.
What we don't do
We don't make, build or sell cutting machines, and no brand pays us to rank its products.
The Dies Have It is an independent site. We aren't affiliated with Sizzix, Spellbinders, Cricut, Silhouette, Brother, AccuQuilt or any other maker.
We don't give step-by-step operating or repair instructions. Follow the maker's manual, because blades are sharp and machines can pinch.
We don't claim to have tested every machine ourselves. When we pick something, we tell you why, based on its specs, its features and buyer feedback.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
